We are very accustomed to see pyramids of every size and in every location here in the Earth. There are pyramids in Egypt, Rome, India, Mexico, Guatemala, Peru, and in many other places. Strictly speaking, we cannot say that one of them is the "largest" or "biggest" since it depends on what we measure, the base, the height, or the volume.
For example, the Great Pyramid of Giza, Egypt, sits on a base of 392,040 square feet and it is 481 feet high (approx. 63 million cubic feet = approx. 2.5 million m3), while Cholula Pyramid of Pueblo, Mexico, has a square footage at the base of 2,178,576 square feet and it is 217 feet high (approx. 158 million cubic feet = approx. 4.45 million m3).
Geometrically, the volumetric capacity of a rectangular pyramid is found by V = 1/3 the height times the base. 1 cubic meter = approx. 35 cubic feet, so the Great Pyramid of Gaza is about twice as high as the Cholula pyramid, but the Cholula pyramid has about twice the volume as it's Egyptian counterpart.
But, is there a pyramid outside our planet's surface, and more than that, is there a pyramid inside the Moon?
How can we inscribe a pyramid inside a sphere, like the Moon? We will not go into the impossible construction details, but from the purely geometrical point of view, the largest rectangular pyramid[1] that can be fitted inside a sphere of radius M is the one with height 4/3 of that radius. But what if the pyramid's square dimensions of the base are given to be 1,500 miles by 1,500 miles (1 mile = 1.6 km) and at the same time the pyramid height is also equal to 1,500 miles? Can this huge pyramid be fitted inside the Moon?
Well, in order to fit this pyramid correctly, the diagonal of the base should be at most equal to the diameter of the sphere, and the height of the pyramid at most equal to the radius of the sphere, if we are not strictly inscribing it in the purest geometrical sense.
The Moon diameter is about 2,159 miles; that makes a radius for the Moon of about 1,080 miles. A pyramid of the size mentioned above has a diagonal measurement at its base of 2,121 miles, so that in terms of Moon diameter and pyramid base we can fit such a pyramid inside the Moon ─assuming a hollow Moon.
But what about the pyramid's height? There is the problem, because the pyramid's height (1,500 mi) is greater than the Moon's radius (1,080 mi).
What is the purpose of these calculations?
The story goes back to 1985, when David Berg (1919-1994), also known as Moses David, the founder of The Children of God/The Family/The Family International circulated among his followers a pamphlet with the title: The Moon! --And the Hidden City!
He claimed having some kind of visit (mental? physical?) to the Moon (he called it "the blue protective sphere") where he found a pyramidal Heavenly City. "The exact dimensions are given right in the 21st Chapter of Revelation! And from these then it is easy for any mathematician who knows his Geometry to figure out a few of the other dimensions. (Rev. 21:16)". When we consult the verses he quotes we find:
And the city lieth foursquare, and the length is as large as the breadth: and he measured the city with the reed, twelve thousand furlongs. The length and the breadth and the height of it are equal.
Since 1 furlong is 0.125 miles, then 12,000 times 0.125 is 1500 miles.
For David Berg, the mass of the Moon is of a particular composition; the transparency is one its properties (underlines by him):
38. ... Although I had looked the blue sky of our blue globe above, I'd not realized I was looking through the, to us, clear-as-crystal surface of the Moon, sort of like a two-way mirror! We can see through it from this angle, but to you on Earth it is merely a reflexive surface like a mirror! We can see out, but you can't see in! Thank God for that! Otherwise, wicked man on Earth would be tampering with the Moon for sure!
How does he arrives at the conclusion that the Heavenly City is pyramidal and not cubical, as the Rev. 21:16 implies? If the Heavenly City were cubical, then the distance from its center to one of the corners would be
(square root of 3) times 1500/2 = 1,299 miles,
but this "radius" is larger that the radius of the Moon: 1280 miles. That is, a cube of 1500 by 1500 by 1500 miles won't fit inside the Moon. Each one of the eight corners of the cube will protrude out of the Moon (think about a moon with with 8 horns).
On the other hand, if we assume that the Heavenly City is pyramidal, with height 1500 mi, then only of the pyramid's vertex will protrude out of the Moon's surface --see the figure the illustration above.
But in that case, how does he justify this mistake? Simple; he just maintains that nobody really know the Moon's true dimensions. This is found in in DO 211, paragraph 2 and 3, (capitals and underlines by him):
2. HOWEVER, TO MY DISMAY, I FOUND OUT THAT THE INFORMATION WE LEARNED FROM SOURCES THERE ON EARTH VARIED A GREAT DEAL & the Earthly scientists' figures regarding the Moon were at considerable variance with each other! So it seems that they don't really know down there what these actual dimensions really are! Their guesstimates of the Moon's distance from the Earth & its size & the height of its mountains & depths of its craters & widths of its seas are at a considerable variance with each other! So there's no telling who's right down there, when they're so far off amongst themselves.
WE KNOW UP HERE THAT THE MOON IS A LOT BIGGER THAN THEY CLAIM DOWN THERE! Who knows?---Maybe it's a lot closer to you too! Like the stars which Earthmen estimate to be millions of light-years away from the Earth & the solar system , when we know that they actually are not far at all!--In fact, they're quite nearby!
Problem solved according to him! The Moon's diameter could be greater than 1,500 miles, in which case his pyramidal Heavenly City could fit perfectly, without the pyramid 's apex protruding out of the Moon.
In paragraph 29 he writes:
29. ITS MOUNTAINS ARE HIGHER THAN EARTH'S HIGHEST, MOUNT EVEREST, being over 30,000 feet high, compared to Everest's 29,000 feet.
Thus, the pyramid's apex can be hidden inside one of the Moon's mountains.
If the Heavenly City is hidden inside the Moon then it is not far from us. In fact, compared to other cosmic distances, this divine city is just above our heads! In paragraph 41 of the communication he writes:
41. SO, HEAVEN IS NOT AS FAR AWAY AS WE THOUGHT! How about that? It's right here hidden under the surface of the Moon! I know that is going to be hard for some of you to believe . It came as a shock to me & was hard for me to receive it ... *Heaven is here, is here right now! Heaven is here, I'll tell you how* Jesus to know is Heaven below! Heaven is here, is here & now!* --as the old song goes! ---We're so glad we're so near you! But we're also within your sight, right up here inside the Moon! Hallelujah! Thank You Jesus! Praise God!
Later, in paragraphs 47 and 48 are more surprising revelations.
47. NOW WHY DO YOU SUPPOSE THAT THE SAME OF THE MOON IS ALWAYS FOCUSED TOWARDS THE EARTH? You never see the back side, only the Moon astronauts who flew around the Moon saw the back of the dark side of the Moon! But the bright side that is towards you is always towards you, & the Moon never turns that face way from the Earth. Although the Earth rotates all of its faces towards the Moon, the bright side of the Moon that you always see is always facing the Earth & never in any other position throughout all ages!
Of course, this is not a revelation at all, it is elementary astronomy, but he takes this Earth-Moon phenomenon for his advantage. Now he explains why God prepared the Moon this way. The Moon is not a true celestial body; the Moon is a hollow spherical spaceship and its pyramid will land in the Earth!
48. SO THE BASE OF THE PYRAMID IS ALSO ALWAYS FACING THE EARTH, possibly for even greater protection from all of its evils & dangers! So it will be ready & in position to land one of these days when God lets it slip right through that Moon coating & and its protective ball come down out of Heaven from God to land on the Earth, the New Earth after the Millennium with New Man! Hallelujah! Thank You, Jesus! Praise the Lord! (Rev. 21:2)
Right now, only robots from the former Soviet Union, and astronauts from the United States have ever visited the Moon, bringing Moon rocks with them.
The account of David Berg to his followers (at that time) is just an imaginary tale he weaved, distorting elementary facts of astronomy for his benefit and glorification, keeping in dark many people and innocent children.
