What are EBooks?
EBook is a short term for Electronic Book. Other names for EBooks are:
- Green Books,
- Digital Books,
- EcoBooks,
- Virtual Books.
All EBooks are digitally transmitted and easily stored in any media like the computer itself, in CDs, or PenDrives.
Basically, the initial format of all EBooks is the plain and simple no-flavor plain-vanilla text format; the text format is the simple unadorned writing we learned in elementary school.
Plain text is also the initial format authors use to write. For example, this paragraph is written in plain text format. Text-based documents can be read by every computer.
But the plain text can be transformed into many ways to enhance some author's ideas, to add figures, illustrations, etc.
EBooks come in many formats, many of them proprietary, thus requiring special appliances or plug-ins to read them.
The most used and recognized format for EBooks is the Adobe's PDF that stands for Portable Document Format.
PDF texts do not require any special appliance or hardware to read them. To read EBooks published, or transformed to PDF format, you can use the free PDF Reader available for free from Adobe.

Datum books are initially formatted with Latex, a high definition typesetting program; the figures are transformed to EPS, a special graphics format. Later, the whole book is assembled and transformed to the common PDF format, and placed in this website for free download for an exquisite reading experience for our readers.
